Special Needs Parent support is a faith based ministry that serves parents and families who have children with special needs.

We have served parents and families who have children with special needs  for over 15 years!  We are experienced, resourceful, hopeful, and helpful for those we serve. We love people with the Love of Jesus. We understand the challenge of raising a child with special needs and know we can overcome together.  We are more than a service.  We are a community!

Our Mission is to follow Jesus example of meeting real needs of families blessed with special needs children.

Our Purpose is to provide assistance and support for the needs of parents and families of special-needs children by providing resources and opportunities to assist them with their financial, social, recreational, physical, psychological, emotional, and educational needs.

“Praise be to the God and Father of compassion and all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble, with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.” 2 Cor. 1:3-5

Family Event Night: This is a once-a-month event where the whole family is taken care of! The families who attend welcome everyone in the special needs community knowing firsthand what the many challenges are. Special Needs Parent Support provides the whole family with a meal in a judgment-free zone.  We offer door prizes and fun activities for everyone. It’s a great event. Please RSVP for events and always feel free to ask questions. We take a break in the winter months from Jan. to March. For the 2024 calendar year we are meeting in the months of April. May, June, September, October, and December.

Glow Dance Event, Thursday, Sept. 5: We enjoyed some pizza, fruit, veggies, chips, and cookies for dinner.  We glowed in our glow wear and danced the night away. I always enjoy these events and not only for myself, but for others, especially my daughter Mikayla.  Mikayla always loves the food, music, and dancing!  It makes my heart happy to see her happy and be able to provide something she truly enjoys. Some First Church of the Nazarene, church friends, also came to the event to share about their special needs ministry that my daughter is currently accessing.  It’s another great ministry!  Please reach out and I will fill you in.

Special Needs Parent Support annual Christmas Party- Thurs., Dec. 7, 2023

We had a wonderful time playing Bingo for prizes. I like to create events that can help the parents I serve in practical ways.  Christmas time can be hard on some families financially. I try to make an enjoyable event where everyone receives gifts. They won household items, specialty items, and gifts cards.  I also offered gifts specific for kids so everyone in the family could play.  We listened to Christmas music, had dinner together, then we played Bingo, and had a wonderful time!

Mikayla’s 18 Birthday Party! Thursday Nov. 2, 2023

This month we celebrated Mikayla’s 18th birthday.  With this celebration comes celebrating Special Needs Parent Support for almost 15 years!  God is the main reason we do what we do, but Mikayla is why I veered my acts of service and God’s love towards the special needs community. Little did I know 18 years ago I would be here today.  I have to tell you it has been an absolute blessing, very humbling, and rewarding.  I have met some of the most wonderful people as a result of this unique life journey.

As a mom I went all out. 🙂  I had picture boards with pictures from the time of my pregnancy to Mikayla’s first prom attendance at last year’s Tim Tebow’s Night to Shine event in Findlay.  I was also able to recruit two special young ladies to dress up as Elsa and Anna from the movie Frozen and I have to note this was the highlight of Mikayla’s night!  We had a DJ present, ate some of Mikayla’s favorite foods, and enjoyed a wonderful and delicious birthday cake.  We were not able to open presents because it would have been too overwhelming for Mikayla so we did this just tonight.  She loves all of her gifts and enjoyed opening them.  We were truly blessed with many family and friends who came to celebrate with us.  It was an absolutely wonderful time!

Fall Fest Family Event- Thursday, Oct. 5, 2023

We had a wonderful time eating together, dressed up in nonscary costumes and voted over the best one (Cory won dressed up as a pirate), and listened to DJ Purple Flash.  Dinner provided was taco soup, chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese, a fruit bowl, bagged chips, cake, lemonade, and water.  This day also happened to be my husband’s birthday.  That is why we had cake for dessert and also sang happy birthday to him.  My husband has been a wonderful supporter of all we do and have done for the special needs community!  I so appreciate him.

Jesus left early, but they did a great job. 🙂 The big winners won gift cards and everyone who participated was able to pick out a prize.  Next month is our annual Fall Fest with non-scary costume contest and DJ event.
